The highlight bar in the iPhone app
The highlight bar in the iPhone app
The highlight bar is a sage strip across a pattern in the NodeStitch iPhone app
that marks the row you are on. Each tap of + on the main counter moves it
down one line, and onto the next page at the bottom.
Turn it on and place it
- Open a pattern on the Patterns tab.
- Tap Settings and turn on Highlight bar.
- Drag the bar onto your row. Drag the two handles on its right edge to make
it as tall as one line.
It learns your line spacing
If the bar drifts off your row after a few taps, drag it back. The app works
out your pattern's line spacing from that, so it lines up better as you go. To
adjust it by hand, use − and + beside Line spacing in Settings.
Skipping a note or a heading
When your next row is below a note, a heading or a photo, drag the bar down
onto it. Once the app knows your line spacing, a drag of a line or more counts
as a skip, not a fix: the bar moves, the spacing stays the same, and the next
tap moves one line again.
Until the app has learned your spacing, any drag after counting sets it, so
for your first few rows, drag the bar only to put it back on your row.
A line that covers many rows
For a line like "Rows 9–35: sc in each st around", the bar should stay put
until you reach row 36.
- Count to the first row of that line, row 9.
- Tap Lock bar, beside your counters. It is there while the bar is on.
- Type the last row on that line, 35, and tap Lock.
The button then reads Until Row 35 · 26 to go. The bar stays where it is
while you count, and moves to the next line when you reach row 36. If you
count back to 35, it moves back up.
Leave the row empty to lock the bar until you tap the button again. Tap it
while it is locked to unlock it. Resetting the counter ends a lock that has a
row.
